Mobile App Local Notifications Do Not Display

Local (“pull”) notifications are the fallback mechanism employed by the mobile app when Desigo CC is not configured to support push notifications.

If you are not seeing local notifications, make sure that:

  • It is an Android device. Local notifications do not work on iOS.
  • The mobile app is running in the background. While the app is open in the foreground, it alerts you to new events with the gray updates available bar at the top of the screen.
  • The app was not closed. When the app is explicitly closed you are logged out and notifications stop.
  • You are still signed in. Notifications stop if you have been logged out for any reason.
  • Notifications are not filtered out. Check what event categories are disabled or enabled in the Settings > Notifications section of the mobile app.
  • Notifications for the mobile app are enabled in the settings of the mobile device.
  • The mobile device is not set to a power saving mode. This may prevent the app from running in the background.
  • On Android 8.0.0, battery optimization is disabled. This is mandatory for the fallback mechanism to work. Go to Settings -> Battery Optimization, then select the Desigo CC app and select Not Optimized.
  • The background services (connection service and watch dog service) which the app uses to provide timely local notifications are running normally. For more information see the Logout without Notification section.

Logout Without Notifications

When the app is in the background, it uses two services (connection service and watch dog service) to provide the local notifications. If a system error causes these services to be halted, they are normally automatically re-launched.

However, on the Huawei P7 device, owing to a custom implementation of Android, these services may fail to be re-launched. If this happens, notifications cease, and after 10 minutes the app is logged out (disconnected from the server) without the user being alerted. (The notification you have been logged out does not display).
